Unconventional places to visit on your next trip abroad

We live in a wonderful world. Today you can order anything online – from junk removal services to food to plane tickets. Every spot on the map is more connected to the other than ever before, which actually makes travelling abroad not only easier and comfortable, but also more accessible and affordable. If you are tired of the conventional vacation destinations, you might consider booking your next plane ticket to some of the following rather unconventional and exotic, but still quite peculiar and exciting destinations:

  • Albania

AlbaniaThis small country in the corner of the Balkan Peninsula usually remains on the periphery of tourist’s attention. The reasons for that are varied, but most notably it is the recent history of violence in the region as well as the rather underdeveloped economy that the country has. The social unrest is long in the past now, and the relatively poor economy means that it would be very cheap for you to travel there. And Albania has a lot of great things to offer you – from beautiful deserted beaches to breathtaking nature in the mountains, well preserved village life that you will definitely find interesting and much more.

  • The Republic of South Africa

Africa is often consider either as a place that is dangerous to go to because of civil war and underdevelopment, or in the best case scenario – a place for really adventurous souls who are into hunting exotic animals or trekking in vast desolate areas. Well, even thought that might be so to a certain extent, the Republic of South Africa will provide you with the chance to both get the full African experience together with the exotic animals, and enjoy a perfectly good vacation at some of the great beaches in the coastal regions, along with the all-inclusive hotels and everything. South Africa is also a very popular surfing destination.

  • Honduras

If you want to make your family vacation as adventurous as possible at a destination any of your friends has ever visited, then you should definitely come to Honduras. No matter whether it is magnificent beaches you are interested in, or exploring the wildlife in a real tropical jungle, or even swimming with sharks, Honduras will be the place where all your dreams are going to come true. The coastal town of Roatan is Honduras’s most popular destination, but it still manages to stay under the radar of regular tourists.

  • Italy

We know, we know. Italy is not the first place that it comes to mind when you say “unconventional travel locations”. But we do not suggest your usual tourist pack with visits to Rome, Venice and Pisa, but one much more unique experience, e.g. the city of Alberobello. Most people have not heard of the place, and that is only good news for you. The city has been built in the 14th century and it literally completely preserved from that time. What is more, it is built in a distinct architectural style called trulli. It is one of the most unique places in Europe.
